  • I would appreciate if sources were provided rather than sending me on a wild goose chase or being told essentially “trust me bro”

Do you not also think there’s an issue when we start saying “you can find a couple”? If even one doesn’t have a source but it’s being pushed as fact, I will start thinking the claim maker unreliable.

I really mean no offense, I’ve been trying to search and can’t find anything. I’ve asked chatgpt, Google, YouTube. I am trying to give benefit of the doubt.

  • It depends for me. The labels aren’t really useful if I don’t know the person. One kid I interacted with over a few months said enough in line with fascism that I call him that. Someone just telling me they’re communist, anarchist, liberal isn’t enough to really get their actual beliefs, given how much overlap and misuse of the terms there is. I will generally vibe with a more left leaning person, of course, so if any of those labels are used I’m like, cool, we’ll probably have good conversations. Even conservatives I’m opening up to. Republicans? My God. I blame my mental illnesses on that brain rot.

  • Speaking as someone who’s Christian fundamentalist parents did not ensure a proper education about this, whose community enforced it, it takes time to figure out, even with the Internet. I was sexually active years before I ever orgasmed, and even after that, the shame for enjoying sex at all was still engrained. I was aware of my anatomy, but with limited, supervised access to the Internet until 18, it set me up to be metaphorically fucked in my ability to communicate about it. But hey, I’m in my 30s and survived.

I remember reading a few years ago that the US postal service was looking into using it for voting. I haven’t seen anything about it since, but it did peak my interest. I’d love to see it used for research if possible, too, but then I can barely understand these decentralized social media platforms so my opinion isn’t worth much with tech

Imma be honest, half my communication involves emojis on discord. Jeb with his arms up is part of my personality now and I won’t apologize. When I started seeing someone a few weeks ago I had to explain that he’s missing out on half of my personality by texting. I substitute by jebbing in person but it’s just not the same 😔

(and yes, Jeb has become a verb)

I encourage you to look at experiments with kids involving altruism. The research suggests much of our fucked up nature is rather learned through the environment. The more we improve our environment, the more we’ll likely see that altruism shine through. Not to say psychopaths don’t exist, but they are extremely rare, and research demonstrates that they can live relatively well without acting on their impulses with proper treatment, too.

  • Internet. I’ve lived in rural areas most of my life and only in the last five years was able to start gaming with friends and watching unlimited video. I feel much less resentment that people don’t want to visit me and am happier getting my social needs met in person by physically going out less often (I still get out once a week ish)

It’s not a replacement for intimate relationships but any means, but I do think it can enhance them with healthy boundaries n whatnot. I went through a rough break up recently that’s had me realizing I’d like a partner that’s ok with me having space to chill with friends day to day but still making time for each other.
