  • Indie also covers an enormous financial area. People generally group games into AAA, Some nebulous middle ground games that are generally produced by the major studios but aren’t AAA and Indie.

There is a difference between indie games that sell millions of copies vs dozens and this lack of discrepancy makes this complex. I once pirated a game called infernium after seeing a friend play it on switch, then learnt that it’s an absolutely tiny game by a solo developer. I happened to adore the level design and lore of that game so much that I bought it on steam and then bought all of his other games too just to support him.

On the flipside, we refer to a game like Hades as indie. I love supergiant games and have purchased all their titles but I would have felt zero remorse at pirating Hades.

Maybe the only thing that I feel is sad in all of this is that the massive AAA games takes years to be cracked nowadays, which means only indie games are pirateable. I don’t like the unfair dichotomy this creates. There are probably a reasonable amount of people who pirate indie games and buy AAA games for this reason, and that’s bad for industry.

Yeah is bet this is it. Born in 1785 is the right time to easily still live off the inherited wealth of a founded city, and even more than now, law is a particularly favourable career for members of that class to retain their wealth and enter politics.

Some of my fondest memories and best bonding experiences are from getting horrendously drunk with somebody. I’m not sure if it’s safe for dating because you need to trust the other person to be a decent human being while drunk, but most people are.

If it’s just the two of you, or you and strangers you’ll never meet again, you’ll end up with a better bond from this shared experience, because neither person comes off worse than the other if you’re both black out.

Also of course it’s not a cute idea? The post is clearly humourous.

  • I’ve attended a few pro Palestine protests here in the UK and I was so unaware of what I was attending for the first one. I’m in a very liberal city and had previously gone to pride marches and trans pride ‘protests’ that were effectively demonstrations for fun as it was largely preaching to the choir.

Showing up to the first pro Palestine protest and realising that it’s a coordinated effort to block roads and generally financially harm the companies that support Israel made me realise how naive I was being by conflating peaceful demonstrations to drum up support with a coordinated effort to harm the opposition.

  • The photo is absolutely true. Not just are there several AI artifacts but her face in the photo is identical to a photo from a photoshoot that came from vogue, meaning it’s very likely that she wasn’t at this photoshoot at all.

Honestly, particularly as someone who only married into the royal family, my heart goes out to her for whatever is going on. It’s clear that since that operation she’s been out of the public eye, whether she’s just recovering, in a coma or as some believe dead, it’s still sad.

What I don’t understand is the cover up and mystery, particularly when it comes to the wife of the future king after the massive amounts of drama and conspiracy around Diana.

  • Unfortunately I suspect we’ll get third party ‘consoles’ that are basically the equivalent of the handhelds from nthe console market, potentially locked to set stores.

The only reason we currently don’t have any prevalent under TV consoles that are glorified steam deck competitors is because anyone interested in that market is tech savvy enough to see you may as well have a PC doing the same.

I don’t see consoles dying out for a decade yet but I suspect the next step is this. That or they’ll embrace cloud gaming, where people are just streaming games of their servers, making them much harder to pirate, easier to charge a subscription for and easier to maintain and release smaller hardware changes. This has 99 downsides although does come with the upside of basically not requiring the larger tech companies to hold back innovation by generation, which may accelerate the the gaming tech industry slightly. I saw an article back when the PS5 was releasing that was basically about how a huge field of graphics tech has a boon on a major console release and stagnates with it, which is caused by so many of the people making content for high end graphical tech being people making games for consoles and there is little reason to outpace what they can perform.

All of that is my speculation from absolutely nowhere in the industry, so take it all with a big swig of salt.

Because the quality of Disco Elysium comes from it feeling like a piece if art that stays with you, it is absolutely written by left leaning writers but it’s mature and elegant in it’s storytelling tbaf happens to revolve around those ideologies.

Call of duty is a for-profit propaganda tool of the US government that is rimarily a multiplayer arena shooter designed to optimise profits due to gaming addictions while passively normalising American world police imperialism.

Apologies for any typos I wrote this while drunk.

  • I started using Reddit when I was 13, I’m currently 24 so still a kid depending on who I ask.

For years in early Reddit, it always felt like everyone on the site was just people browsing it in work, to the point where ‘summer reddit’ was a thing because the quality would drop when the kids weren’t in school. You could feel the difference in the website between work days and weekends.

That’s exactly how Lemmy feels now. I bunch of people in their 20s and 30s who all have jobs Infront of a computer, sometimes I’m sad that this site isn’t filled with Gen Z because they are the critical generation. It’s much less progressive for the internet if this site is filled with old fogies nostalgic for the golden age of the internet, than it is if it’s equally filled with enthusiastic kids who never saw the unfiltered internet but want to ride the fediverse train regardless, because they believe in it.

I hope everyone on Lemmy didn’t grow up with the old internet, because it means they believe in something they haven’t seen.
