Not the person you replied to, but I’ve been using RSS for a couple decades now to keep up on the news. Instead of following a blog or news outlet that reposts on social media, I just subscribe to the source (blog, news site, whatever) in my RSS app. People using Twitter and Facebook to follow things like CNN was always weird to me… that’s what RSS was built for.

Since a lot of those places likely aren’t on Mastodon yet, people are going back to RSS to fill the gap, which is great.
