I hate all and every money based questions. Like “Whut wuld u do if $XXXX appeared in your bank account tomorrow?” or “BAM, You’re a millionaire, what would you do with the money?” or “If you had $XXXX, how much would that change your life?”
Like, come on, unless I’m given a large sum - then I won’t answer. It just gets tiring seeing the same old answers of people saying they’d do good wonders to fluff their humbleness or there’s people who’d buy a million rubber balls if given the chance or anything.
When I was in school:
“Why are you so quiet”
What’s it matter?
I think this is usually condescended, but I think it’s more likely explained by this. You’re kids, social skills still developing, and you notice someone never talking. You like talking and making friends so you basically go talking makes me happy so why don’t I try to get this person to talk. So to break the ice and try to open you up they ask that question, not very effective, but remember you’re (most likely) kids.
"So when are you going to buy a car / house / get married / have kids? "
All of which I’m not interested in. Just leave me be and let me do my own thing. Being single, free of debt, and enjoying life shouldn’t be seen as an abnormal thing.
“Tell me about yourself?”
“Name one fun fact about you?”
“What’s something you like to do?”
Look, I’m in my 30s and I don’t fucking know who I am, I’m the most boring person you’ll ever meet, I’ve never had a true friend in my life and I like to hike and play video games but I never have the energy to hike anywhere cool anymore and saying I like to play video games either makes me look like a loser nerd or makes people want to endlessly talk about video games with me and I just want to be left alone in the corner to be the loser nerd that I am.
Being asocial doesn’t make you a loser. Open-ended questions just suck, and makes the conversation feel like im performing for vaildation.
I hate those questions as well becsuse I cannot answer them on the spot and it feels like I was forced to answer them while deep diving through my mind to find an answer
I hated the few school teachers who asked that
Writing this also reminded me of that ine high school substitute teacher that assumed what ethnicity you where based on your looks
I grew up in the US but I’m not white (I’m Indian American). I really don’t like when people ask me where I’m from, and I say “New York,” and then they’re like “No where are you really from?”
Well? Where are you really from?
New Yawk
Where I live this phrase is really know to be awful so most people do this “how long have you been living in x?” —> “where did you live before that?”. And if both are in the USA that usually stops the asker from asking anymore unless the askee offers up the info themselves.
Another way is to straight up ask “I notice you have a cool/cute accent, where is that from?” and that’s just much nicer
All of the endlessly rehashed ones:
Guys, what the sexy sex you ever sexed? (followed in a few hours by:
GuysGirls, what the sexy sex you ever sexed?Something something tipping in the USA something?
Something something
tippingguns in the USA something?Something something
tippinggunsmedical care in the USA something? If all the countries in the EU went to a party…?
If all the states in the USA went to a party…?
USA good, EU bad?
EU good, USA bad?
etc
holy crap this sums it up so well lmao
Dear mods, can we please pin this one at the top?
Do you know how fast you were driving?
No, but I know where I am.
Are you bored of doing X. No I like my hobbies and I’ll keep doing them.
„Why are you doing this that way?“
Because I obviously don‘t know any other way to do it? Just tell me how to do it better and stop asking me questions that make me feel dumb. Idk why this triggers me tho.
The only moments I ever ask this, is when their way of doing it also has its pros, or looks like it does
What if the other person is doing it that way because of some special reason I wasn’t aware of. Just because their way seems harder to me doesn’t mean the easier way is even available to them. What if they don’t have the right tool for the job? What if they do, but the the tool is broken, badly designed or something? What if the situation is somehow unique and using the normal tool would be dangerous, annoying, slow or something like that? That’s why it’s nicer to ask before giving your advice.
Once you understand the situation better, you can potentially give better advice or even shut up and keep on moving.
This person “Why do you do it that way?”s.
„Why are you doing this that way?“
My response would be “its easier to do ot this way rather than the other way which is harder”
People should be aware of and work woth people’s strengths and weaknesses to help them succeed, not force them to do it the official way instead
It’s also why I’ll always advocate for personalised education modified for the individual
“How was your weekend/days off”
It was great as always because I wasn’t here, please stop reminding me.
“They were great because I didn’t have to put up with you”
I also hate the money questions. They’re fun thought exercises, sure, but mostly they make me angry that I will never have that money and the people who do have are fucking stupid in its use. Who the fuck buys a social media website instead of just launching more and better rockets? You’re finding literal rocket scientists but noooooo you gotta shit post on twitter. The world could be an amazing place of we could get all the money from all the rich people but no, we continue to let them be stupid with it and let people suffer and die because of it.
All the questions I hate in the sense of hating the question itself are the ones that are the loaded ones based on assumptions, though the truly honest questions I only might prefer not be asked as often.
They include… “You sound like you moved from somewhere, where are you from?” “Don’t you want a boyfriend? Can you be my girlfriend?” “What’s your job? How does your job work?” “Why don’t you drive? Shouldn’t everyone drive?” “What’s your Discord?”
What’s something women/men will just never understand?
The unutterable names of God. Your head explodes before you get half way through at most.
“why did you spend so much money on a PC” and then they actually expect me to give them an explanation…
Lets seee… you spent 600 bucks on a PS5 and buy games for $70+ and own 40 games now.
I spent ~$900 on a decent PC and collect my free games in the Epic store every week and now own way over 200 games for free.
Now, you do the math here who’s overspending… /s
What do you do for work?
I hate working. I only work to have food, a roof over my head, and to be able to do the things I actually like doing. The absolute last thing I want to spend 20 minutes talking about is my job.
I don’t fault anyone for asking this, it’s a completely common and innocuous question, I just can’t stand it.
Questions with bigoted assumptions.
Not everyone has a problem with interracial relationships, or noisy children, or overhearing conversations in a language they don’t speak, or polyamory, or vegans, or furries, or whatever-else y’all are assuming everyone must hate or be suspicious of.
