He’s not part of any downtrodden underclass, and he’s singing extremely basic and uncreative lyrics that make gestures towards working class issues while barely touching on any of those issues, all the while making sure to punch down on the “wrong” poor people. It’s petit bourgeois attitudes wrapped in redneck aesthetics made for comfortable middle class folk who feel “downtrodden” because taxes exist, welfare exists, and there are people who are richer than them. There is no solidarity with the actual working class.
