I feel like this is a good litmus test. If you have to double the price of the original, your remake/remaster is coming too early.

How about “if your game received a backwards compatibility patch that makes it look better for the current generation, your remaster is coming in too early”

I noticed the announcement trailer doesn’t even show any footage of the original, which makes it the only remaster trailer I think I’ve ever seen that doesn’t do a split screen or other comparison at some point.

And the first thing they mention is new Spatial Audio and haptic triggers. It’s like selling a new car and bragging about the cup holders first.

It was originally released in 2017. I thought it was newer than that and was surprised they’re already milking it.

But it’s still a relatively new game. And they’re already milking it. And doubly so it looks like.

A lot of the remasters seem really early. Maybe it’s because the graphics are still fine, maybe it’s the amount of years. Still. Did it need one? ~~~~

Shhhh… Don’t let everyone else know how cheap you can get physical PS4/5 games for (not even just used, but new games on sale too)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Complete Edition has gone for less than 20 at GameStop, Best Buy, or Amazon (or all three) on sale. There are ways to find the lowest price a game has ever been…

Steam stans refuse to look outside the platform and aren’t always the brightest bunch

I actually have it on my wishlist. One of those games I wanted to play eventually. Had it on my wishlist now. Certain actions by companies make me lose interest.

There’s enough good games out there. Can skip some based on company actions just fine.

So the first one was $25-30 on steam and they brought it back to $50?

I already got the game last year, so I’m not affected by this, but that is incredibly shitty.

      This is about consoles.

I don’t think it’s really that bad, because it enables them to sell the upgrade for $10 without just being a steep discount path for new purchases.

I’d much rather previous owners be able to upgrade for $10 than new buyers be able to get it for $20. Funding a remaster on new customers instead of double dipping is way more fair, and price conscious customers can still likely find used physical copies cheap.

I got it for free in 2021 when they were doing the Play at Home initiative. Unfortunately, I’ve never liked it. I hate having to be sneaky and use ranged for combat. I just wanna run up and hit stuff with my stick.

Thanks to Sony the prices for videogame hardware and software keeps getting up. Something that never happened before in the history of videogames. At least not by a large main console competitor in the gaming market.
