That is a pretty ironic comment because that is not what the paradox of tolerance is at all. The paradox of tolerance is that intolerance needs to be suppressed for tolerance to exist, since tolerance can’t exist alongside intolerance.

The paradox is that tolerance needs to be intolerant towards intolerance in order for a tolerant society to exist, literally the exact opposite of what you wrote.

  • So if Brexit even simply stoked his interest in foreign expansion, it counts.

That is not what he said. Through lack of one foreign market (EU) he was forced to seek other foreign markets. For all we know without brexit the company would be doing even better solely by operating in the EU, and that all the while nothing would have prevented him from operating in those other foreign markets besides the EU.

It is a coping quote, nothing else.

It is a bit of a chicken and egg question though. Because do Americans not say it that way because of the date format or is that the date format because you don’t say it that way?

Because in countries using DD.MM.YY we absolutely do say 6th of November.

For instance, you can chop a tree down. Once you’re done, you can chop a tree up.

Imagine the confusion this causes lol.

This is an absolutely minor thing, and it is also a phenomenon which occurs in basically all other languages.
