It’s someone somewhere deciding what I can or can’t see on a remote host they have no control over.

I mean, they do have control over it in a sense. They can defederate from it so it’s no longer on their instance, which they did. You can still access the community from other instances though, like you’re doing now, so it’s not really a big deal. This is how federation is meant to function. People running their instances by their own rules.

I agree though, their rationale for defederation from this community does not add up for me either. But at the end of the day they can be as irrational as they want with their instance.

It’s their instance, their rules. You can join another instance that doesn’t defederate from them or make your own. That’s the beauty of the fediverse design. It doesn’t matter if we’re okay with it, we have options to get around it unlike with centralized platforms.

Totally agree, and yeah DS9 is my favorite trek as well (I’m actually watching it as I type this on my phone lol) so would love a revisit to the promenade.

But Picard season three was what I think TNG needed for a good wrap-up. It didn’t blow me away but the final scene of the last episode was perfect for me.

This is Picard for me. I thought season one was alright, season two was hot garbage, but season three is what star trek fans had been waiting for all these years. Perfect conclusion, but boy was it rough getting there lol

Europeans seem to vastly overestimate Americans ability to afford to do that.

This part, I’m struggling to stay afloat I can’t splurge for a intercontinental trip. I can, however, drive my car for a day or less and be in a completely different biome/culture. Each state is essentially it’s own country with it’s own laws and cultures. An overarching American influence but each place is definitely unique to itself.

I like to learn a language not so much out of practicality though because you’re right, we can speak to everyone here with English. I like to learn a language just for the mental benefits of training my brain and learning more about another culture.
