Congratulations? People pirate for a variety of reasons. No one reason is superior to the other. You gonna tell us you’re vegan and use arch, too?
Wise man say- forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza. 🍕

Yeah this post seems kinda sus considering how many times they’ve avoided saying what game it is. And not wanting to use Steam at all? Steam is the one corp you can still have some trust in. I see a post like this and it reeks of them doing something most likely illegal in a bad way, or they are a bad actor trying to fuck with our shit again. Either that or they’re a weeb that’s too embarrassed to name the furry porn game they’re looking for.
My laptop is pretty dang portable. It may not fit in a pocket or what have you, but I carry a backpack anyway. And does windows provide emulators? I just pulled up a huge list, right on Discover Software Center and there are at least a couple different emulators for every major (and even some minor) console, handheld, arcade, and even a DOS emulator for DOS games. Hell, I even have Space Cadet Pinball on this thing. Yeah I’ve pirated on windows, and it’s not as easy, unless you’re talking about music production software, but that’s a whole other beast. Don’t get me wrong, Steam Deck is awesome and I would love to get one, but $650 is a hefty chunk of change for a lot of people, and considering I’m trying to save up for a Framework, I’m not interested in spending that kind of money right now.
Fuck the MPAA
I didn’t even buy a Steam Deck, I just switched to Linux, which is essentially what you did, just expensively.
while it’s generally taboo to cite Wikipedia directly, you can cite the same pages Wikipedia does as an easy work around.
Yup! Back in my college days, my English professor said we could use Wikipedia, but we had to trace sources all the way back to their origin, preferably a physical publication if possible. Meaning if Wikipedia cited a source that cited another source, you had to cite that source. That’s just how academia works!

Speaking as an elder Millennial, probably. As I get older, I get lazier and desire convenience over shiny and new. I recently got back into rebuilding my music collection and the high seas have changed since last I sailed. That being said, my desire for music drove me to learn the new ways, even though I didn’t really want to. The bigest things that stop people from keeping up with technology is desire and ease of access. Most people could give a fuck less, so they don’t bother with it, and the older we get, the less fucks we give. Those of us with a desire, for whatever reason, will choose to learn.
Brother, I do punch up, because punching down is for suckers and only serves to injure one’s own hand. And when it comes to people continuing to push generalizations, because generalizations only serve agendas, I’ll punch them too.
What tirade? And it’s amazing how I’m downvoted for pointing this shit out. It’s that same old ploy when someone doesn’t like hearing the truth so they just keep saying, “stop yelling at me”, no matter how calmly you try to say it. It’s almost like there’s a narrative trying to be controlled and yinz don’t like it when you’re called out.
And since you missed it in my last comment: GENERALIZATION IS WHAT’S HARMFUL. LEARN NUANCE.
Up yours!
Wait… that’s not how it goes…
I like both depending on my mood. I fucking love the cranberry 7Up they have during the holidays.
Oh, like the myth that cities are a utopia where there is no racism? Because guess what, bud, there are plenty of fucking racist pieces of shit in the city. Or how about the myth that only white people are racist? Because there is racism between Asians and Black people. Or Black people and Hispanics. Or between the various religions. It ain’t just white people.
Yes, there tend to be more liberal viewpoints in large cities, but this broad-stroke painting a picture of a lack of racism in cities needs to stop. People need to re-learn nuance.
Yes, because it’s the most prevalent, and because while you can still buy vinyl (if the label even offers it and I’m not strapping a turntable to my back when I go out), other formats (namely CDs) are rarely offered, and I don’t know how iTunes works these days, but that is/was also subject to the whims of the platform, just like most any other digital library (ie; Steam, Playstation, XBox, etc.).
Thanks for the tip!
Ever heard of Spotify? Pandora? iHeartRadio? There are also tons of audiophiles that buy vinyl, CDs, etc. The streaming services are about “convenience”. But it’s not very convenient when those services don’t offer everything that should be available, the quality is shit, and they can pull things from being available at any time. The physical forms are about actually owning what you pay for as well as quality. Even the best rips aren’t 100%; there may be a missing track, cut too early, corruption of the file(s), etc.
So yeah, people still pay for music. It’s not porn.
Thank ye, matey! We be pirates, after all…
Ok, I gave in and while it’s a little confusing, I already have one of the albums I was looking for and it’s flac. Thanks for twisting my arm!

You got $30? Some of us are so poor that even $30 has to be planned and budgeted for. And most places want all $30 for the year up front and won’t split it up into monthly payments. Not everyone can just plop down $30 at a moment’s notice.
