It does not matter how many people are on your instance. The only things that matter are that your instance hasn’t been defederated from other instances with communities you’d want to participate in, that it is kept up to date and online, and that your instance owner/operators stay on top of moderation. I’ve not heard of any problems along these lines with lemm.ee

Honestly thighs, legs, and wings for me are on pretty even footing depending on what I’m doing for a meal. At places that do whole chickens and not wings specifically, I generally prefer the order I listed. But wings from places that specialize in wings are really great. Whole breasts are just undeniably over by themselves as my least favorite way to eat chicken (even though I don’t dislike them or anything, I just don’t prefer them).

Legitimately asking because I never buy breasts, are they wicked expensive right now? Breasts are the worst part of the chicken for anything other than the total amount of meat IMHO because they don’t have as much flavor and dry out really easily when they’re only slightly overcooked. My order of preference is thighs>legs>wings>breasts.

Aside from being tone deaf, I think this is bad advice. Common breakfast foods are fairly cheap comparatively and I’m pretty sure most nutritionists recommend eating something for breakfast to kickstart your metabolism. If I were skipping/reducing a meal, it would be lunch.

This is a good “I am Very Smart” candidate which surprisingly doesn’t seem to have an active community here on Lemmy yet…and I might be just fine with that now that I think about it. It seemed like half the posts there on Reddit either were mean spirited, called out the wrong side in an argument, or were actually smart.

I see, well I guess the real question is whether it can be improved at the server/protocol level and my answer is I don’t know. There’s some handshaking that clearly has to occur between your instance and the other instance to load the initial community state and I don’t know where that process can be optimized. I think I’ve seen people mention tools that have been created to automatically subscribe a dummy account on your instance to all the communities on the largest instances to kind of bootstrap the process for other users, but I don’t have a link to such a tool handy.

Edit, and there’s never going to be a guarantee that your server can talk to their server until you try clicking the link because the other server could be overloaded, down, or blocking your server.

What’s ironic is it’s usually the type of people with your type of attitude that I miss and grieve for the most.

I agree, and I think categorizing generations is always going to be messy. But I think the Oregon Trail Generation/Xennials just seems to be more distinct than most other micro generations. I’m pretty much in the middle of the commonly accepted millennial age bracket and would still consider myself more of a Xennial based off the broad characteristics that have been described, despite falling outside that rough '86 cutoff by a couple years. I know part of it is probably due to how much Millennials get shat on, but it feels like the “Millennial Generation” is an especially weird generation where half the people that are supposedly in it don’t feel like they belong with the other half and many resent the label. To me, the Millennials born after '90 seem quite distinct from those born before '87 and I feel like I’m in the middle and identify more with the Xennials. I’m no sociologist, though, this is just my limited subjective experience.
