Censoring in computer games. Here in Germany, a lot of games were censored aggressively when I was young, because God forbid the youth is able to play games in their original form! They will turn to the dark side when they see some red pixels! Politics got even worse when we had a school shooting incident (not that regular here) and the attacker played a video game.

A lot of games where either not available at all or we had robots, green blood or missing assets in them.

I also liked to listen to electronic music (still do), but I grew up in North-East Germany and the only radio stations here played pop, rock and old people music. Couldn’t tape techno music, was too poor to buy it (and too far away from a good store anyway), so I looked on the web and found a lot of great stuff.

I still remember the first online music stores, with horrible DRM and 128kbps WMA files…it was not a good time.

For a while I had Netflix and Spotify, almost didn’t pirate anything anymore. Then Spotify started draining my phone’s battery, they didn’t shuffle properly anymore and I got recommended songs that were definitely sponsored (fuck you, A State of Trance). Netflix lost a lot of content and we got many more streaming services in return. So here we are again.

Dann funktioniert es für ne Woche, bis das überforderte Adminteam mit einem akut auftretenden Problem nicht umgehen kann und wir sind wieder da, wo wir jetzt sind.

Es müsste sich an der grundlegenden personellen Struktur etwas ändern, damit immer jemand da ist, der sich um die Instanz kümmern kann.

So richtig interessiert an Hilfe oder überhaupt die Community zu informieren, scheint man ja nicht zu sein. Die Kommunikation findet in irgendeinem Matrixraum statt, hier gibt es seit Wochen kein offizielles Feedback zum Stand der Lage. Da fehlt doch das ernsthafte Interesse daran, sein eigenes Projekt weiter zu betreuen…

Ich mein’, ich verstehe ja, dass sich Prioritäten im Leben vielleicht ändern und sowas wie Feddit ein Klotz am Bein sein kann, wenn man viel zu tun hat, aber eine geordnete Übergabe an ein anderes Team sollte doch wohl drin sein, anstatt das Ding hier halbkaputt einschlafen zu lassen. Come on.

Had a similar experience, but it was a video of a guy who got run over by a truck, or in more accurate terms…smushed into its radiator. There was not a lot left that could be recognized as a normal human body, but he was still alive and crying for help.

I’ll also never forget that, fucking traumatizing thing. I believe the Nokia phone camera quality which was usual back then made it even worse, because there were missing details you couldn’t see, only imagine.

Er hat Parallelen zu einer Figur aus Westworld, die ich anfangs auch hart unsympathisch fand, aber am Ende geliebt habe.

Funktioniert bei mir super, ich hebe meinen Spam aber auch auf (soll heißen, ich lösch den einfach nie aus dem Spamordner) und betreibe seit vielen Jahren einen eigenen Mailserver. Hatte also eine große Datenbasis, als ich vor 1-2 Jahren von SpamAssassin auf rspamd umgeschwenkt habe und konnte das System durch die ganzen alten Mails anlernen lassen.

Gefühlt kommt da einmal alle 1-2 Wochen eine Spam-Mail durch, alles andere wird korrekt wegsortiert. Bin aber auch nicht der einzige, der meinen Mailserver nutzt, das hilft bestimmt auch nochmal bei der Kategorisierung. :)

Ging mir ähnlich, als ich Burnout bekommen habe. Da mussten dann irgendwann meine Eltern aufräumen, weil so viel Zeug auf dem Boden rumlag. Hatte nicht die Kraft, es wegzuräumen.

Mein Bett sah aber nie SO aus, so viel Kontrolle hatte ich dann doch noch…

Dann bin ich mit 2.000 netto (bei 32h) wohl krasse Oberschicht.

Ich meine, dass ältere Thinkpads diese Funktion sogar noch hatten. Also richtig steinalte Teile wie das A22p unter Windows 98, zum Beispiel.
