yeah, it is not snowballing, it is Network Effect. for the people who want to use a twitter-like social network, the value is in the many other people using it.
but, as you are doing, telling people to leave is the correct move. because for every person that the network loses, the network loses value for everyone (the network effect going in reverse)

Yeah, the modern world is incredibly complex. Human brains did not evolve to be able to communicate with the number of people we deal with everyday, so the post-apocalyptic stories, with just afew hundred survivors is much more manageable

Vaccines. the original against smallpox was revolutionary, probably one of the most important discoveries of human history. Smallpox was a horrendous disease but we found a way to save the lives of millions of people
And know we have outbreaks of diseases like measles because the vaccines were so effective that people starting to believe that the disease was not so bad and that the risk of the vaccine was greater than the risk of the disease 🤦♀️
Literally all the benefits you mention are benefits of advancing science. All of those would still exist if there had been a global communist revolution in 1917…

I just find reading on light mode much easier and comfortable, so i use it most of the time. I do use dark mode for programming, it doesn’t bother me there, but for most apps and websites the dark mode feels much more tiring.

but i would say it is either the Curie’s experiments, discovering the neutron, splitting the atom, Fermi’s reactor, or the tests during the Manhattan project; all really well documented.
