  • Kind of like a fascist would since they don’t actually believe in a political ideology. They can be kind of hard to spot until it’s too late. The core issue I have with Communists is that you’re all so desperate for numbers you’ll let anyone in, including fascists, and when the revolution comes through, all the real Communists mysteriously disappear and we’re left with something that isn’t Communism.

Most people who make FOSS full time that people interact with (Linux, Python, Git, Node.js etc) work at large tech companies where their work is being subsidized.

Solo devs don’t have that luxury, their income is directly tied to their product. They don’t have the same privileges.

It baffles me how much people get shit twisted again and again.

The Lemmy protocol is open source and you’re free to use an open source solution. You’re free to use sync for Lemmy in much the same way you can run a Spotify client in Linux. One does not destroy the other.

Tldr if you don’t like it, don’t use it.

  • I dabble in both. These cables are nowhere near messed up enough to count as cable gore. I saw a rack where someone decided that the VOIP switches didn’t need port maps so every time they moved a phone around (don’t ask me why they didn’t just fix it in the config) they would just run a new patch cable from the port on the switch to the new port on the patch panel. Rinse and repeat for about 5 years and the rats nest of yellow cabling was a beauty to behold.
