The likely scenarios, as far as I can guess are that…

a) if Biden wins with anything less than a substantial majority, there will be violence. b) if Biden just scrapes a win, violence seems likely. c) if Biden loses, the violence will be long lasting and possibly irreparable in the next generation or two.

I am quite afraid, to be honest. The people who are not concerned do not appear to have familiarity with some very significant and recent (ie - less than a century ago) world history.

This is not just a conventional political pendulum shift where every so often you find yourself in vociferous disagreement with where things are going. This is a fundamental shredding of societal fabric.

Pfsense is fantastic. Extremely flexible. I am contemplating switching to opensense when it’s time for an upgrade (it’s been running seamlessly for many years, but someday I’ll need to).

Note that it’s a router, not a wireless access point. For that I use a few Ubiquity APs (I forget the model).

Believe it or not, they know this one…! It’s one of the reigning chanps. They have mini competitions with each other seeing who can spell it the fastest. Lol

Yup. At least the twitter app (UI) isn’t as bad as reddit’s. But I’m blocking promoted tweets faster than a game of candy crush. I hope Mastodon takes off - not comfortable with Threads.

Reddit is just unusable - I never really liked Reddit until I found BaconReader. Those days are over. Such is life.

As for lemmy, it needs to mature, but that’ll come. It’s not bad…!

Reddit made it pretty easy to stop - their app is so bad I just don’t bother logging in much.

I still check in a bit as I have a few open dialogues going but I don’t browse it anymore.

Twitter is harder - too many people I follow.

I really like the UI with Liftoff. I switch back and forth with Connect because Connect has a bit more functionality though for things like trending communities. I also prefer the swipe from the left menu.

At first I thought this was a great idea. But need to understand a bit more about the security implications for those that subscribe and post to the communities that want to do a move. It’s one thing to trust your credentials to the host server, but quite another to implicitly trust the community mod who wishes to move. How would the old posts migrate? How would integrity of the constituent posts be preserved? How easy would it be to inject comments into to historical posts and republish them on the new, official, server? Could you be held liable (whether officially or through reputational risk) for posting content that wasn’t really yours? Maybe there are good mechanisms to maintain integrity of data? I’m just not sure what they are.

I think there may be implications to this that are not obvious.
