Risky click.
You may want to share the specific issues you’re having on the Lemmy Matrix Space for this.
That’s the technical term for monthly usage limits.
I’m paying $40 CAD/mo for 1.5 Gbps down and 940 Mbps up here in Canada. Unlimited bandwidth, of course.
This is new territory for most instance admin and a volunteer effort. If you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to consider sharing constructive feedback with them as a first step instead.
As for finding new instances, it’s generally recommended to visit https://join-lemmy.org/instances.
It’s not FOSS but it’s currently free and without ads.
Don’t forget Connect! It’s probably the most complete Lemmy app right now. The “About Instance” function is amazing for getting a list of communities on a given instance with actual working links for subscribing.
For folks curious, !infinityforlemmy@lemdro.id is the Infinity fork community. Dev is quite active :).
Automatically hiding them would be fine, but I personally wouldn’t be comfortable with any upvote or downvote automation.
Need a different hobby. Electric unicycling is great for this.
Ideally this will be addressed by improved community discovery functionality in the apps and Lemmy-UI so folks don’t need to really think about it.
I agree Lemmy is easier than Mastodon.
Performance is also overall better via other instances. We were hesitant about migrating /r/android given the LW downtimes but ended up doing so when Cole offered us a place on lemdro.id. Awesome uptime and great performance thus far with his scaling solution - keeps costs low as well.
The more decentralized, the better!
I thought that was disabled this time around, but I haven’t participated myself.

This is helpful consideration, thank you for sharing.
Reddit was a long-ish road too. The first wave in 2007 got folks like myself to make their first Reddit accounts but it wasn’t until 2010 that people really started migrating over en masse.
Not everyone will switch, but it’s likely enough of the more active folks will to fundamentally change its character.
This is how the Digg to Reddit migrations worked. Initial wave wasn’t a death blow but things will keep maturing on Lemmy. By the time Spez upsets people again on Reddit, we will likely see another big wave - hopefully moderating tools are improved enough by then.
Definitely. I’m just wondering because they referred to posting on Lemmy more frequently with Sync - curious if there’s another build or whether they meant commenting specifically.
Agreed! I’m really appreciative of folks putting this kind of work into Lemmy.
