  • Ark has cryopods which do the same thing mechanically, the only major difference being that you don’t visually throw them. If you use the vague wording on the patents surrounding pokemon’s box mechanics, it falls easily under there, since you are storing a captured creature in a digital storage.

Nintendo is the KING of frivolous patents. They’ve lost cases on it before, and with palworld being a sony interest, I don’t think the usual financial bullying nintendo brings to the table is going to cut it on this one. They need an airtight case and their vague patents (and recent history trying to patent THE LOADING SCREEN and vehicle speed matching for player characters with totk being denied) is a bad look for them in a courtroom. Like the US, the holder of a patent in Japan needs to file suits swiftly to protect the patent, or they risk losing cases (like this one. See “laches defense”).

Palworld is back in the top 100 global bestsellers today.

  • Maybe you didn’t realize, but by volume, sales in the west for BMWukong were stellar. >4M sales volume (76% of 17.8 million sales were chinese) is performing well by any standard. It dwarfs the sales volumes of other recently popular Chinese titles, taking the top spot for sales in the west handily. Other games like the GuJiang series, dyson sphere program, the matchless kungfu, crimson snow, tale of immortal had substantially fewer players despite getting nearly universally positive reviews. This is the definition of breakout success, when you reach a new market.

For reference, this game is selling in the west as well as street fighter 6 and guilty gear strive, games that are performing far above a previous genre standard.

MMS video file size has a default limit set by your provider. However, basically every phone has RCS available by default these days - which will be used in these cases automatically, within the same messages app - except when Apple refuses to allow it because of cross platform interaction.

You stated that iMessage provided this benefit, and it doesn’t; it isolates this benefit from being used. “Depends on the app” is just false. It’s “depends on the hardware” - google messages even recently expanded RCS support to phones that didn’t support it for one reason or another it in April. These data limitations haven’t been saving people from issues for over a decade, you’re conveying outdated takes.

You have fallen for the actual lies. iMessage doesn’t have higher quality video or images, it trashes the quality of MMS for no reason. Have a green bubble friend send you the exact same image on imessage and email it to you/send it on discord/whatever. It destroys the quality. Any other messaging app or even the default messages app on most phones won’t degrade quality like this, even on cell data; it’s being artificially degraded to make you believe iMessage has something other messaging apps don’t. There is no magical picture beautifier in imessage.

You quite literally have to turn off the “fuck up my videos and images” setting to even get decent video from other imessage users.

  • You should look into the origin of the word meme. It’s not terribly old and you clearly don’t understand it. You’ve also gone and thrown away your benefit of the doubt by arguing semantics on what’s clearly meant to be a lighthearted and hyperbolic comparison. Propping up random ideas and putting them, as words, in someone else’s mouth is dumb as hell. Pretty sure there’s hundreds of places online where you can argue with other people who don’t know the difference between socratic and aristotelean logic.

Here’s the thing: nobody on the internet ever wants to have a philosophical discussion with you, much less with a username like Tropical Dingdong. Nobody has to prove shit to you. I can make outlandish claims like “Crazy frog arcade racer 2 is the best racing game ever created” and not back it up at all and that’s fine. Nobody has to argue with you or give you any benefit of the doubt. I know I sure won’t.
