Video games. Streamers, YouTubers, and other ”content creators” have had a massive negative effect on the hobby as a whole.

The bandwagons driven by these people can destroyed games that should have had a mediocre reception, but instead were panned by a couple creators then that criticism was parroted loud and wide. Where a game could have had a nice little niche audience, instead it was shut down a year after launch due to the shitty bandwagons.

These people also drive companies to make horrible balancing and content decisions. Since these people play games as their jobs, and play them daily for 8-10-12+ hours, they have wildly different desires and perspectives on games. These perspectives again get parroted loudly, the game companies hear it, and make changes/decisions based on people that play all day every day. This destroys gaming for not only casual gamers, but all gamers that don’t play one game for 8+ hours a day every day.

I could go on and on, but these trash reality TV stars for nerds have done so much damage to the industry.

Self diagnosed != real

The fact that downvoting is seen as possible misbehavior is enough for me to be extremely against public votes.

It will also strengthen the hive mind, exponentially.

I have good insurance. I pay $20 per paycheck for my wife’s coverage. Our typical visit costs 20-35 depending. Our medications cost 10-20 per 3 month supply.

Most people don’t have insurance this good.

It is #1.

I say this having traveled around the world to experience everything from extreme poverty to extreme wealth.

By most measures, the US is still the best place to live for a vast majority of everyone.

Only pay off what is due, not the full balance. So if I spent 100 on my cc last month and then 100 this month. My bill is for 100, but my balance is 200. Pay the 100, incur no interest.

Edit: by “what is due” I mean the full balance from the previous month, not the minimum payment.

That is not quite the quote, and its meaning changes significantly.

“Worker smarter, not harder”. Means that when a challenge increases or you are wanting to do better/faster/more to step back and think about your methods instead of just brute forcing the problem.

No one that says should mean “do not work hard”. That is the complete wrong meaning to take from this statement.

Personally, I think it is worse here as there is almost zero opposing voice. On Reddit, there are people from most sides of most topics. Here, in most conversations, there is only one side represented.

Now, I tend to agree with the bias here, on some things, some times. But even when I agree, I want to see arguments from the opposition. Otherwise, I never learn.

I dont mean to be rude, but people that have been banned from Reddit coming here does not improve the community.

I’d say this is only half of the answer.

After browsing Lemmy for a while, you get the sense that the average user here is the type that gets upset about a social media company making changes to an API. That is a very specific type of person and you can see it in the comments.

I’d guess people get turned off by that type of person and leave.

I come here once Reddit and hacker news content is old. This isn’t a place I’d recommend to anyone, unfortunately. There are extremely strong biases all over and deep echo chambers. Users here seem like the perpetually online type. Most perspectives I’ve seen have been heavily influenced by online discourse rather than reality.

I visit this site less and less due to the user base.
