your profile says that you created 1 post. And this is just a link post.
do you know what community is a proper place to ask questions about indoor flowers/plants?
another issue is: most of the people want to consume, very few contribute and most “contribution” is a link-posting, even without a personal opinion for it.
For me Lemmy, mastodon etc are tools, like email or http. People which use these tools are very different and have very different political views. So, for me the answer to your question is “no”.
Did not know this, thanks!
I would say, good restaurants and cafes do not serve tea in bags :) but this is already details, anyway you get a tea, not a soda called “ice tea”.
Did you check the documentation? https://join-lemmy.org/docs/users/04-moderation.html
afaik, lemmy client apps do not support moderation tools so far
They ask what kind of tea I want - black, green etc and bring a cup of it together with sugar so I can add it to the tea if I want.
Europe.
If they are not nessesary just do not use their service. Suv is not a nessesary type of car - just buy another one.
Anyway, my point was creating/discussions good things is better that focusing on hating thinks you do not like.
Well, I was talking about technology communities, not Foss.
And even for foss, it can and should be pro Foss, and not anti-corpiration - this is much more productive and inspiring. Like Lemmy itself must be busy with its own things instead of fixating on hating Reddit.
Just IMHO.
Lemmy is founded and developed by two communists and anti-US persons as a commy friendly alternative of Reddit. They also admin two (?) Lemmy instances.
I assume that after people from Reddit migrated it becomes more balanced. But still, reading news and comments in “technology” communities I feel like I read “anti-corporporate”, not technology topics.
Functionally of one drive is close to gdrive, office is more feature reach. From the privacy point of view, I would check EULA. Many people automatically say both use your data (priceless less of horror movies) for profit, however if you use a paid version of o365 - it could be different. MS hosts many enterprises and this will not work it it will use their data for “ms own” needs like training ml, but I’m not sure how personal subscription conditions look like.
Fully agree that money or other similar goals do not buy happines. But there are goals as well. Like stop being unhappy and become happy. And there are steps one can follow to reach this goal.
This sounds like playing with words for me.
If you are not happy right now, then moving from your current state “not happy” to state “happy” is a goal. And during this transformation you become happy.
So, even if the happy is just a mental state, you still can become happy and can set target to reach this.
Well, user base could have impact chances that instance will be supported for a long time in a good way.
On top of that, in your “all” feed you only see communities which users from your instance subscribe. Smaller instance - emptier this list. This is a discoverability.
Well, as far as I understand “pride” came as a result of years when people have to hide their orientation since in some contries it was a crime and so on. And “now” they do not have to. Actually, these days, I see pride as outdated and overused - either your orientation your private business or it is a public show you put on your visit card (in this case why others should consider it as as a “private”).
Not sure to what degree this is relevant for disabled people. Outside or the pride, I see many things are done to include disabled people in sociaty: -Trains and buses have support for disabled people and special places. And a lot of info labels here and there
ould you show example of discrimination you are talking about - no prime month is not a discrimination (many groups of people do not have it)?
Definitely. Am German living abroad, so it’s a great instance for keeping up with local stuff.
Then feddit.de sounds like a best choice for you :). BTW, you do not need to have an account on feddit.de to subscribe and participate any community “hosted” there. So keeping up with local stuff is relatively instance independent (but there are nuances, still :( )
As for privacy, I don’t expect anything to be private anywhere on the internet. But for a lemmy instance I’d hope that the admins are a) running it on secure infrastructure (firewalled, etc.) and b) they’re not just handing off email addresses to the biggest bidder.
I see. For me this sounds like security, rather then privacy. Anyways, I assume that feddit.de meets your criteria again - it is hosted in Germany and, as far as I remember, says that follows German laws (what covers “reasonable” security/privacy requirement).
Freddie.de is a solid choice. But if you want to create an generic, english-speaking community think twice. I saw many people assume that all community on Freddie.dr are regional. To the level that some wanted to block whole instance because they were not interested in Germany local topics.
Another question: what kind of privacy protection do you expect from a Lemmy instance? Cannot think about anything private here.
commenting is a a contribution. but posting is more important, at least so far - no posts -> nothing to comment.
