Just look at all the people in the comments patiently explaining what the problem is and what can be done. At what point would you consider this common knowledge that is propagated and confirmed because people on this plattform have reached consensus? It is good we had this discussion for a few days, plenty of awareness has been spread on lemmy. I’m proposing to stop posting about this topic as there is nothing new added except repetition that gains traction because we agree. Call that whatever you want.

And thus the brave lammings set out to inform other lemmings, who are as tech savvy and know this is happening, that this is happening by posting memes. Hopefully the people, who would already be using firefox if they cared, switch to firefox so we can breach the 3% market share and that’ll show Google, maker of Chrome and Firefox’ main sponsor, people care enough to stop this madness! - I’m not against activism, but activism in an echochamber can turn into a circlejerk. Everyone stop stroking please… I’m here for the memes.

  • I’m guessing all the shitposts that don’t load on 196@blahaj for me are from users on overloaded instances, because when I post there, the image is uploaded to my home instance and referenced in that post on the ‘foreign’ instance. Plenty of error placeholders there lately. Concerning your question: I think a community gets delayed into your feed if its server federates slowly or not at all until it is up again. I see sudden post batches appear in my feed sometimes and unseen posts from hours ago.

  • A change like that shouldn’t be done over night, you’d need to go double standard for a while, say 10-20 years depending on the sector. That way you can construct ‘ansi’ buildings while new development is slowly moving to ‘iso’, and machines get the new specs when replaced. Give a heading and industries will slowly adapt.

  • I assume you would also introduce a new standard with rounded numbers, metric doors are also 200x80 cm for example, and sizes of everything gets rounded in the rest of the world, too. Timber sizes differ a little between north america and the rest of the world, it is a different framework, you’d get used to it.
