You’re delusional if you think any politicians actually care about anyone but themselves.
But the point is, I’m not comfortable with politicians deciding what’s “essential” and what isn’t, then ignoring the rules they set by partying in Florida.

They at least understood that you can’t keep people locked down forever and let the government decide what’s “essential” and what’s not. Even Democrats understood this, so that’s why they vacationed in Florida and Texas.
No, but what made me upset is that every single one of these hypocrites got re-elected. The Democrats need to do better. Just because they’re Team Blue doesn’t mean they’re good people or even have anyone’s best interests in minds.
Democrat politicians constantly passed all these covid restrictions and then partied in Republican-led areas like Florida and Texas, or just violated their own rules.
That did not give me the impression that they cared.
I used to be more liberal until covid happened. “Rules for thee but not for me!”
Yes, it’s practically mandatory here…
Are tips mandatory in Canada like they are here in the US? If yes, then customers are still subsidizing employee wages.
Tipping culture is a thing in Canada only because of its proximity to the US. It’s not a thing in the rest of the world. Tipping always pushes wages down because why would employers need to pay more when employees get tips?
The whole tipping thing started as a way for restaurant owners to pay their servers less (or nothing). It needs to go.
The sad thing is, enough Americans think being able to tip everybody more easily is a great thing, so this is only going to continue to get worse.
I’m talking about the US, of course. Most states still allow employers to pay “tipped employees” $2.13 an hour.
Right? It’s not covid. The media and Square are helping employers get away with shit wages.
Which is still the majority of them.
I’ve had kiosks prompt me for tips, even making me hit Custom and type 0.00.
I’m so tired of Wall Street Journal, Readers Digest, Square, and Clover pushing the idea that we need to tip everybody everywhere because covid. It’s ridiculous. I don’t want to live in a country where everybody behind a counter can be paid $2.13 an hour.
No kidding. I don’t like Biden at all, so that seems to make me a racist Trump supporter by default in leftists’ minds. Nope, I’m a moderate and don’t like Trump either.
Or I get “A wild BothSides has appeared!” as if to say it’s impossible to be moderate.
Well, I’ve been giving Mammoth and Ice Cubes a try instead of the official app, and I don’t think I’m going back to official. They can both see way more posts, and translation actually works.
The lack of discovery features are why I never really got into Mastodon, but it seems like the third party apps got that right.
I found it very cheesy, tbh. Nacho average distro.
I gave you evidence to back up my claims and you’re choosing to ignore it, bucko.
Have you not noticed that’s exactly what politics became in the US? Everybody would rather be in an echo chamber with other fans of their team than listen to anything the other side has to say.
