Not true, jitsi does have e2ee which you can enable in its settings, but it only works on chromium based browsers or their desktop app. Element call on the other hand has temporarily disabled the e2ee option.

You can actually use it on any browser if you just spoof your user agent to edge, there’s no technical limitation that requires edge, microsoft just did it to be shitty. I don’t doubt it, the fediverse will absolutely self implode if this insanity continues, you have instances de-federating with meta, you have instances de-federating with instances which chose not to de-federate with meta, its putting massive walls between content/and fediverse users.

If things continue as is, some people will have no choice but to use meta’s official instance and applications rather than a mastodon/kbin/etc instance, as they would’ve blocked meta. I’m sure that’s not what everyone wants.

Privacy is no concern. Privacy will only be harmed if your instance de-federates with meta as you can longer communicate with meta users from privacy respecting apps/instances, and will be forced into installing meta’s apps/using meta’s instance.
