  • Bunch of degenerates are terminally online on an almost anything goes website.

Stormfront and others see the site as ripe for manipulation and recruiting.

Over a decade, 4chan is dragged rightward by concerted effort from various fascist groups.

Manipulation of social media increases into the 2010s, fueled now by governments attacking mostly the USA and Europe.

QAnon gains popularity after others on 4chan fail; CIAnon, FBIAnon, etc etc. Right wing, hateful, insane, or just plain dumb normies all slurp up the conspira-juice.

russian asset becomes president. Incompetently tries to destroy government and nation while stealing as much as possible.

russian asset loses election. Decides to try to destroy the USA a bit more by declaring the election fraudulent without a shred of evidence. Tries hard to get result flipped to republicans for… reasons.

Dumb ex president thinks he can just demand Congress elect him. Holds a rally the same day as the election is certified, tells attendees to “fight for America’s future, let’s march to the Capitol, I’ll be right behind you!”

After they organized partially on 4chan, Enthusiastic chodelet troglodytes storm the Capitol.

A wiki with strong moderation tools, and gnupg signed/verified text built into it from the start.

An activitypub method to keep git repos in sync automatically.

A small blog type tool that’s used as a replacement for facebook. It would have a hosted “gathering” component that is always online, then when you open your local app, it pulls down all your stuff.

Shared secrets like a distributed KeePass or Bitwarden.

Distributed home directory and/or development environments.

Something like the useful bits from KeyBase. I really wanted keybase to be something that could support this use case: Alice@foo gets a dev job at Bar. Her ID is added to the cool_project@bar group and automatically she has access to all the group’s big bug tracking, file shares, wiki, git repos, group chats, etc. Her joining the group is recorded in a permanent record, which can be publicly or privately annotated by people specifically allowed by the group she joined. It’d become an automatic resume.

  • Not good deals per se, but a list of stuff that might be useful. All this stuff is expensive and as such may not be accessible to many people. Apologies for USA centric views and prices.

    • Cut gloves. Protect your hands while cutting food! $20.
    • Light blocking curtains. Good for sleep and cooling a room. $50 upwards. Get multiple pairs for better heat blocking.
    • UV and/or infrared blocking film for your windows. $50 upwards.
    • Victorinox chefs knife. Great quality, not expensive. So worth it.
    • Sharpening stone for the above. $50 for a fairly standard one. Get a flat leather strop too, and red polishing compound. Blunt knives are dangerous!
    • Multitool. Handy pair of pliers and screwdrivers.
    • Naloxone. You never know if you might need to help an overdose.
    • Resqme car escape tool. Put it on your car keys keyring.
    • Tourniquet. Learn how to use it, get a high quality one. It might save a life.
    • Small battery pack and solar panels. Because electric companies are shit in the USA.
    • Nitrile gloves. Put the over the cut gloves when handling food.
    • Pour over coffee maker. Aeropress. Burr grinder for coffee beans.
    • Variable Temperature kettle.

Ok I’ve procrastinated enough lol, enjoy!
