Things have actually gotten worse for me. With how crappy Reddit has been over the last few years in terms of how engaging my feed is, I’ve been spending less time on it naturally. Now on Lemmy I find myself addicted again, spending 3 hours in a row some days, after having already used it throughout the day. I’m thinking about giving up Lemmy and Reddit all together, wondering if my comments are even valuable to society and what not. I think maybe I’d be happier without either. Not saying you would be, or that others shouldn’t be on Lemmy, just that I personally struggle with it and it interferes with my life sometimes.

Yup, sometimes when I’m dealing with something in real life I imagine handling the conflict in different ridiculous ways. Usually irl it ends up being handled smoothly, but on the rare occasion that the beginning of one of my imagined scenarios come true, I always end up getting a huge spike of anxiety that makes me try to get out of the situation as quickly as possible instead of doing things the way I had imagined

No, I’m being genuine. It’s theoretical and all, but if you were to put up a windmill in the same spot instead of a tower, it’s possible traditional air conditioners would be able to cool the building to the same degree while also providing surplus electricity. It’s also possible that you wouldn’t, and I don’t know the answer. It would also be interesting to compare it in different ways as well, like rather than asking “If a windmill was here” we could ask “The energy removed from the wind by the tower”, because that would indicate scalability problems if one windmill was indeed able to cool one building, but maybe 100 wouldn’t be able to cool 100. All hypothetical, but air conditioners/heat pumps are actually very efficient, so it’s possible an active design could be more efficient than a passive one in this situation. At least, until someone does the math
