  • I know everyone is here for the same thing, and we’ve all been correcting this image since it showed up five years ago, but an Americano is not a black coffee.

It is however, coffee that is black, but if I ordered one and got the other, I’d know somethings up.

Also, I really don’t know why people drink americano. To me they just taste like cigarettes, but I’m currently drinking chicory so my opinion is moot.

  • As the population of people raised on the internet increases, you’ll see far more anger responses to the idea that being raised on the internet is bad for you.

Nobody wants to believe they might not have done it right.

That being said, kids generally do dumb things, and your initial comment seems a bit harsh for something as silly as rizz tag.

  • I say since the eighties because thats when the pseudo minimalist home design and plastic siding started, and all furniture became laminated particle board, and fucking everything starting turning beige and grey for “resale value”. Everything became so commercial it had no substance, and we quit making things that would become antiques because they became garbage.

Make everything utilitarian, but make it so poorly it fails at it’s own utility.

  • My industry is full of pseudoscience and liars. I can’t fault them for not knowing, and probably came off as more harsh than i intended.

I correct patients all day, and got pretty burned in the long long ago on reddit by people who “know better” patting themselves on the back and getting my factual information downvoted to oblivion.

  • Focusing close regularly doesn’t make you short sighted, not getting enough tourquoise light on your retina from staying inside makes your eye keep getting longer instead of stopping when the focal point is correct. Well, that and genetics.

And losing the ability to see near as you age has nothong to do with pressure. Your lens is constantly adding new layers to itself to stay clear, and after 40 it’s become so thick the muscles that pull it to accommodate near vision can’t stretch it enough. By 58 it doesn’t stretch at all any more. That’s why everyone eventually needs bifocals/progressives.

Don’t state things as fact if your not sure of them.

  • Hard one. I’ll list a few I suppose

The terminal man by Michael chrichton: a paranoid man has electrodes implanted in his head to stop violent fugue states he enters, but he learns to control the electrodes, and accidentally sets off significantly more intense violent outbursts

Annihilation by Jeff vandermeer: the first part of the southern reach trilogy, an expedition of scientists are sent into a possibly alien anomaly to find out what it is and how to stop it from growing and consuming the land. The environment inside is confusing and seems to infect anyone inside it in some way.

Wizard and Glass by Stephen King: the fourth book in the dark tower series, it’s a flashback to the main characters adolescence, his first mission as an ambassador and spy for his kingdom to find out how a small town may be secretly participating in a civil war, and how a witch may be controlling the enhabitants.

The Stranger by Albert Camus: a man with no motivation or real concern finds himself the focus of a murder trial, and without any interest in defending himself, can’t see how nobody is on his side.

  • I would like a gun, but not that gun. Gunpowder has been around a long time. Something simple and robust with a long barrel like a mosin could be modified to work as a rifled flintlock if cased ammunition is too hard to replicate. People made some pretty intricate metalwork though, if you happen to be in a place near a jeweler, you might be able to get some cases made.

Maybe have a blacksmith reverse engineer a rifle, get some folks behind you and overthrow some lords. Kill the old money, set up a government for the people, keep manufacturing as many simple rifles as possible, sail to america and give them to the natives and tell them to shoot at boats before they get too close.

Problem is, I don’t speak any of the useful languages. So maybe the Moog and ten bottles of cinnamon would be better. At least I could entertain myself until I die of dysentery.

Motorcycle and Moog. The motorcycle will take me to a forest, and then the parts can be useful for making sharp stuff or tying things or starting fires and I’ll just camp forever and play rad tunes. Make a cart with the motorcycle wheels to carry animals or foraged supplies, build a cabin and just tinker forever.

Might get lonely out there. Should probably try to pick up chicks before my hog runs outta crank.

Edit: wait how do I carry a keyboard on a motorcycle
