That was the fascinating part. Only by actually using one you could feel it pull to the station via a literal string inside. Apparently (some/most) auto sunroofs work in a similar way, and you do not want to break that cord.

Content is far more important than spelling as long as the point gets across well enough. I’ve done the same as you only long before when shortcuts like R and U were introduced and persisted. Picking out grammar and spelling errors instead of discussing the topic means you don’t have anything to contribute TO the topic, and lack of content is far worse of a crime than odd spellings.
I have corrected spelling or grammar before, but only as a side note to be helpful, not to ridicule.
Wouldn’t happen in the US. Instead they’d change the workload of the employees that were most problematic based on the survey to the point where they weren’t doing a good job anymore, and then let them go due to inability to perform.
All healthcare, including mental well being, should be separate from a job because of this.
I gave my technically illiterate father a led mouse for Christmas just as they became the normal, and it was like a miracle to him.
Maybe that’s why the US has gotten this far, because they’ve sold the idea to enough people that they could be rich one day so don’t mess it up for the rich people that you could be one day. Then convincing them to hate the other poor people, even hurt them. It might hurt you too, but remember, one day you’ll be rich and escape the pain.
If we stop doing the cat thing, the internet is truly dead.
“A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.”
My hot take on the sequels is that the first one was a decent start, and they screwed up the whole plot from there. It had some issues mainly in dropping subplots, probably because what was intended to be followed up wasn’t thanks to different plots and directors.
The prequels should have started with the Clone Wars, covering more of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship, with an occasional flashback to the earlier Anakin to fill in his past. Being a fan from the early years, I didn’t like the prequels that much initially, but the story grew on me after watching them a few more times later along with fan commentary over the years. What I do still think they suffer from is making Anakin’s fall too sudden, and if we got a better sense of how much he and Obi-Wan were brothers in spirit, the eventual fall would mean more. There would also be more room to develop the friction he observes with the Jedi Council, maybe even take things to a new level in why they don’t let him progress. I guess I basically see TPM as a wasted first part to better establish his character.
I think it’s far better to find someone you can relate to via their personality first. Everyone has their flaws, so if you’re weeding people out first from appearance and then trying to find the person inside to match, that’s killing your odds a lot. That being said, you can hit it off seeing someone first and then learning more about them, but I think that’s more true in real life where you can pick up other signals that online visuals just aren’t going to do, and those subtle signs will filter your image of them, whereas if you had a picture of them online you might skip over.
However I have no experience in the dating game and am biased as I found my wife of 35 years online back in 1985. Rather she found me in randomly looking for someone to chat with and things went from there.
Using the upvote button to agree isn’t a problem, but it’s more of a problem to use the downvote as a disagree if you’re actually engaging with the person to debate the topic since it in theory lowers the visibility of the original post and your own commentary.
I always liked the idea of having a “recommend post” button, and let the better stuff with more recommendations and replies rise to the top naturally. It also avoids the weird feeling in clicking an upvote/agree/like to a topic that you want to discuss but is negative.
It’s true we can infer a lot of what it looks like from what we can see and using data from other galaxies. However that does often change. I’m not even sure which is the more current version right now, but here’s another version with four more pronounced arms. The same original arms are there, but the others are more dust and different star makeup than the first and could be more pronounced than once thought. There are also several different structural wave patterns rippling through the galaxy as it rotates.
Even if it was the correct picture (and how can you be sure) the arrow is pointing to the wrong place.
1974 movie “Phase IV”.
Some of that didn’t age well. Did you read it? I’m curious what you think Trump had to do with this? Aside from stamping his name on things, which is what he does.
You’re right, I can’t think of anything worthwhile he’s done. So why expect anything now?
All the posts are about combat between some guy with a short sword vs. a spear. No one has considered Paul’s ability to predict future actions and using that to determine the best outcome. Much like fighting a Jedi (who presumably could anticipate the immediate future), how can you fight someone who already knows how you’ll move and the best counter?
Damn, that quote is even better than Jefferson’s. A more civilized FAFO.
I would never say it out loud, but any time I hear a kid throwing their temper tantrum in public, in my head I want to tell them “just wait, it gets worse.”
Some of us “old timers” have a foot in both worlds. I grew up with some cars like this, but also with the birth of computers, so I can appreciate the old and new. I will admit keeping up these days is hard and I don’t know much of what’s out there, but I feel I can understand the basics and not be totally lost.
My dad on the other hand was genius with mechanical stuff. Could rebuild an engine, weld, draw up plans and construct things, including a house. He was totally lost in the computer world though, including the idea of the internet, no matter how much I dumbed it down or used analogies.
I’ve also seen younger people at work who can work a smart phone like magic, yet also would not know how to restart a router or recover from/avoid a computer virus.
