Again, humans have the choice not to kill animal for profit/taste, we can easily avoid it, cats cannot.

Wild animals do all kinds of things we don’t consider okay for humans to do, using them to justify needless killing does not make sense.

No they aren’t they’re domesticated. So your solution is genocide for these species? Is that not needless killing?

    ???
I’m saying we should stop breeding and killing billions of farm animals.

Again, it’s not humanizing, it’s recognizing that they aren’t machines, they are living and feeling beings.

Do you think we should avoid harming others when we easily can?

I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by farms and my family raised and slaughtered sheep, chickens, cows and more… and yet I can easily see that just because you provide someone with shelter and food it doesn’t make it okay to kill them for profit/taste.

They don’t know their time on the earth is shortened by a couple of years.

Same argument could be made about killing humans, they would have no idea after they died.

They do know they’re not dying from horrific disease or consumed alive by predators. There’s this crazy idea that wild animals have better lives.

I’ve said nothing about wild animals.

Farm animals are not rescued from the wild, they are bred by the billions to be killed for profit, that is cruel.

Actual privilege is thinking that you’re completely entitled to have living and feeling beings killed for your taste pleasure.

This is how animals are actually treated: https://watchdominion.org/

It feels like to me you are humanising then too much.

I did no such thing, all I’m saying is that needless killing is bad, do you not agreee?

In the wild they spend their time on the brink of starvation and living in constant fear of being killed for food.

The animals you eat are not animals taken from the wild and put into cozy little homes where we protect them, farm animals are specifically bred in horrible conditions, abused, raped and killed.

They aren’t humans so comparing them to slaves doesn’t really work.

They are individuals, have you ever met a dog? they certainly have personalities and experience life much like we do.

Besides, slave isn’t a term limited to humans:

    slave
    slāv
    noun

One who is owned as the property of someone else, especially in involuntary servitude.

    …and humans are animals.

If we lived in a post apocalyptic world…

Again, these animals are bred and killed because people pay for it.
