And automotive guys figuring out a good chunk of their replacement parts are European.

Except I can see Trump just sidestepping via EO. Sure, it’s unconstitutional, but “official acts”, remember?
And that’s exactly it. Putin has literally made no secret that he wants to take back, by force, every former SSR he can’t force into CSTO. The Baltics, Moldova, Poland, Finland probably. Then south to Georgia, Armenia, and who knows where it’ll stop - maybe he’ll be dumb enough (and live long enough) to try to start Afghanistan War #4.
You act like SCOTUS would need to defend it. Assuming Thomas and Alito step down in the next 4 years, Trump has two open slots to fill with other younger bucks like he did in 2016, and without a Dem lockup in Congress to actually impeach anyone over their decisions, the decisions they make could theoretically stand unchallenged for decades.
Less “fascism is popular” and more “people are so desperate for SOMEBODY actually promising change that they’ll vote for anyone offering it, no matter if it’s good or bad.”
Status quo politics is pretty much dead in the water and arguably has been since 2016. People don’t want “I’ll keep everything on a steady course,” they want someone who sounds like they’re going to take charge, and Trump provided that.
Don’t forget selling off state secrets to the highest bidder. Literally months after Trump won the first time, he met with Vladimir Putin in a private meeting, where the Mueller Report claimed he gave Putin a list of CIA assets tasked with monitoring Russian activity. About a month after THAT, CIA agents and assets started disappearing in Russia and across Europe, almost all of them conveniently FROM THAT LIST.
He also stole state secrets after leaving office and proudly displayed those like war trophies to anyone he met with at Mar-A-Lago.
Nothing states WHERE the President has to be sworn in. LBJ was sworn in on Air Force One. I believe Andrew Johnson was sworn in at the house where Lincoln lay dying.
The thing is that this looks like fascism, but for a different reason. The place that got their animals taken away was a legally licensed, insured, and recognized wildlife sanctuary, and the reason given was “we need to test them for rabies” despite the animals showing no signs of rabies infection, nor any incident occurring which would require those tests.
The whole thing reeks of some sort of petty local dispute with the PD.
“Well we just want a big pool of candidates in case this person doesn’t work out.”
Those companies can get a building dropped on them. Cannot tell you how many positions I’ve applied for only to be told “oh we filled that two months ago and didn’t take the listing down”.
I legit had a recruiter for Procter & Gamble tell me that “I’m not the right type of autistic” after applying and taking literally an hours-long personality/IQ test “designed” to screen for autistic candidates as part of a diversity push.
This also got used in Baby Driver. Highly recommend a watch.
Honestly, Cowboy Bebop. The universe it builds feels lived-in, and the animation style is incredibl, but the music is really the star.
Be aware, however, that while there are happy moments, it is an anime about bounty hunters, and there are very few happy endings. Beautiful endings, poetic endings, satisfying endings - but never happy.
My issue, as a younger grognard, is that point and click character builders and sheets have led to a lot of players who don’t actually understand how to play the game without their buttons. They don’t get what I mean when I say “roll a spell attack” unless they have a button that does it. They don’t get how to build a character outside of something like D&D Beyond where it does everything for you.
Pokemon Emerald? So long as I’m not the protag, life is generally OK. Aside from Team Aqua/Magma and the whole “causing disasters to expand the sea/land”, I should be OK.
There’s a good reason nobody’s domesticated them.
He also claimed the war didn’t leave him with any bad memories, but he’s got a whole marsh where dead people pull other people into the bog to drown.
Weirdly totally not about the Somme according to Tolkien.
As Behind the Bastards pointed out recently in their Kent Hovind episode, the IRS doesn’t give a shit about what illegal or immoral activity you commit, they literally just want you to pay taxes on it.
Remember the times they effectively blockaded highways with their ad hoc motorcades, and they kept getting into wrecks there too?
Their home version of Spokesman is great.
Don’t do my man Viktor von Doom like that. Latveria is a dictatorship, but he’s literally the platonic ideal of a benevolent dictator - his people love him, everyone else outside Latveria thinks he’s actually a pretty decent dude when it comes to ruling too (aside from Richards).
