As the shortest person in most Basketball games during my childhood, I would have loved this so much! I enjoyed the game very much, but I always had to work twice as hard as my taller friends.

These exist and are widely used in rural Romania. Even public institutions like schools and town halls use these there. They’re not the worst you can get though. About 10-15 years ago you’d also stumble across houses that had no toilet paper, just newspapers. You were supposed to wipe with those. Not a fun experience!
Everything that needs to be done for society to maintain itself can be done if everyone works 20 hrs a week. The rest is just to allow some other people luxury lifestyles.
You are not only working to mentain a functional society, you are also working to constantly grow it (each year more stuff must be made, more money must be earned, more of everything) it and also to create a very big surplus for the rich. We also burn perfectly edible food, ruin perfectly wearable clothing and make electronic devices that intentionally break in a few years to get you to buy another one sooner just to get the 1% more money. If we didn’t do all that and they lived normal, non-luxury lives, everyone would have a lot more free time. If everyone worked only 20 hours a week, we’d make enough to sustain our society.
Don’t give up! You’re close to finishing the tutorial!
Do you have a ghoti-ing licence for that joke? Wild ghoti must be preserved, you know!
It’s Life by You for those that don’t want to access the link.
Such a shame, I was excited for the game.
It depends on the class and the school. Some of them are a wonder to work with, especially if you try to make the lessons fun and turn them into games. Others make you want to pull out your hair.
But all in all, the worst thing, to me at least, is admin. They stick their noses into what they shouldn’t and ignore the actual issues. In my experience, they can either be people who give 200% and are overworked to the point of burnout or they are power-hungry tyrants.
I teach middle school
I think non-militarized cops, so most non-American ones, are not that bad and are generally more decent people than militarized cops. It’s amazing how much better policing can be when cops don’t carry guns with them all the time
I don’t know, I have removed close to 80% of ads in my life. None on my pc, none on my phone, none when I listen to music, none when I play games. Adblocking, Linux and a dash of the old yarr matey worked like a charm
I’d be pretty interesting to have access to age demographics for social media. I assume Reddit leans younger than Lemmy, but I’m in my early 20s and so are a few of my friends, and we use Lemmy a lot more.
I don’t agree. The simple fact that Lemmy is decentralised is a political thing. It’s about who has power over the platform, and that is inherently a political issue. The status-quo of other platforms, that being under the control of a corporation, is also a political stance.
PS: everything is politics, that’s not a good or bad thing, it’s neutral. If you don’t think of something as political, that just means it’s oriented towards the status-quo you are used to.
Not saying I’m in favor of it, but there’s still market socialism out there as a political stance
Are Honey Bees in danger in Europe as well? The only headlines I’ve seen of them being on the decline were about North America before
Fair enough! It does take a lot of time to build an understanding of the issue here and I failed to take that into account. I realize not everyone has that sort of time, inclination or even general interest in the subject and that privacy is not exactly at the top of values for most people.
Still, I think people as individuals are still at least a little bit at fault for the way things are, though certainly the most of it falls on the system that fails to teach people about this sort of stuff and on the corporations that take advantage of that lack of knowledge.
I guess I let my frustration get the better of me in my comment. Sometimes it feels like there’s this massive fire raging in the middle of the city and just a handful of us are trying to put out at least a tiny proportion if it while the rest just don’t care about it.
Anyways, thank you for the well-written response, kind stranger, and for making me self reflect!
I don’t think that’s good excuse. Firefox is free and installing it takes less than 10 minutes.
Same. I feel like this will just push me offline. I refuse to relinquish control over my system.
It is clear just exactly who ruled the party during communism when you look at PSD’s policy. Being in favour of a privatised energy sector is not very socialist at all. To me this just shows how little value they put on socialist values and paradigms back then too.
No socialist project can work long term when built with a small number of people at the top, determining everything. Power needs to be as spread out as possible.
