Put it simply I just hate ads. Anything that puts in ads is terrible. Including Sync for Lemmy who seems to have completely missed the point of getting the hell away from Reddit.
The next terrible thing is automatically generated content and bots, but I guess those are also really just ads.
Yea I just block them. Which is pretty much all political, news or religious related communities. Also the occasional “SFW” communities that are still NSFW. Just because they have clothes on doesn’t mean nearly naked people are safe for work.
I don’t care much for the interoperability between Mastodon and Lemmy, but having more users from Mastodon come to Lemmy sounds good to me.

No such thing currently exists within Lemmy. It isn’t a big deal to make a new community and do whatever you want with it. Or if all you want is a single post you could make a wiki community and set it to moderators only posting and then curate posts yourself as requested.
There is currently no /c/wiki community so it is free for the taking.

That was my first thought. I’d need more proof before believing this. Perhaps it has happened at least once in one of the millions of schools, but as a general policy across the country? Highly unlikely.
They might value education more than the US and can be strict, but they aren’t as draconian as the west seems to believe.
Eventually we are going to realize that not everyone is going to be able to have a big yard and a big house with 3 cars each. Something has to give and I think it is going to be zoning laws. So while people might be able to afford “housing” again at some point in the next 50 years it is going to be more like a shack than a house.

But soylent is closer to a smoothie than water with dissolved minerals. I think if you really tried to consume all your vitamins, minerals and proteins from something with near water like viscosity you would have to be drinking it constantly. You would be peeing 100 times a day too.

I get those expensive 5 blade Gillette razors and they last me about 4-5 months each of shaving a few times a week with and against the grain of the face hair.
Anything older than Gen Z tends to be referred to as being a boomer. Including Gen Y. I think Gen Y has the most control over the internet so this group gets brought up frequently.
I’m curious to see when Gen Alpha will start showing up. Where are those little guys?
As a Gen Y human I feel Lemmy appeals to my traditional forum sensibilities while being slightly streamlined. People used to host forums because they wanted to and not as a means to generate revenue.
I did a bit of that for the community I am trying to build, but I was genuinely interested and gave my own thoughts on the matter. I can’t keep that kind of thing up forever though. I only care so much. 😵💫
I’d like people to make more posts rather than just comments. People are pretty good at commenting on posts that get made, but not so much at making posts themselves.
I think join-lemmy.org recommends at random so it doesn’t particularly mean anything. No reason not to use it though as you can view the the lemmyverse from any of them.

That isn’t a good justification to me. If it’s ok for you then it’s ok for the rest of the world too. You might believe ads aren’t bad and that’s fine. At least we can agree to disagree on that as our opinions aren’t reconcilable. If your app can’t exist without ads then I don’t believe it should exist at all. Or any other software in the world.
