This is better than “dinosaur juice”. I’m stealing it.

Pedantry alert: most oil comes from algae and plankton. By “most”, I’m talking high 90 percent rather than 51 percent.
That made it even funnier. Without DO NOT ASK WHY, it’s just another weird internet question. With it, you wonder if the person who’s asking considers it a secret, or is embarrassed about the situation for some reason. It becomes that much weirder.
Didn’t it also include “DO NOT ASK WHY”?
If the text is accurate, “falling asleep” is probably more humane than chemo would have been, anyway.
My sympathies to all who loved him.
I think people like Android devices because you can put a completely different, non-google OS on them.
Some Android fans don’t quite get that, and some aren’t specific with their language, so it reads like they’re talking about how secure the Android OS is. That’s my guess, anyway.
And yet, the bar is SO low that I’m impressed the comic isn’t quite as condescendingly preachy and obnoxious as it could be.
(Okay, maybe the editor refused to print the version the cartoonist really wanted to run, but still.)
Bluesky started out being owned by Twitter (pre Musk), but became a completely separate company (also pre Musk). Somewhat like Mastadon, it is intended to be decentralized. It’s still in beta, so it’s not freely open to the public yet - you have to get an invitation from someone who already uses it.
How do they plan to make money? “We’ll be publishing a blog post on our monetization plans in a few weeks, and we’ll share more then” according to Emily Liu, part of the Bluesky team.
This is the very first time I’ve even heard of Firefish.
YOU”RE NOT GOING TO ACT OUTRAGED OVER SMALL THINGS
“Outrage by default” is an extremely bad trait that I hope reddit refugees (like myself) don’t make common. It’s exhausting, unhealthy, and rarely helpful.
Someone in another thread made a simple but profound point: not every conversation needs to become a debate.
Had to look up “vicuña” to see what it was. Looking at the picture on Wikipedia, I think I had just lumped them in with llamas. Thanks! I learned something today!
Things on the internet may live forever, but people have short memories. Just post a few more funny memes like this one, and it’s all good.
I’d like to bring back the market environment that made Radio Shack profitable - when the “right to repair” was a given, and not something that needed to be fought for in court.
What amuses me is that there are people who will take it seriously, and either feel attacked or justified.
The “self righteous vegan” stereotype is, in some cases, real. It only takes one encounter to start generalizing - and sometimes not even that. People really don’t like feeling morally inferior.
“Hey, baby, the prime minister is telling us to have kids. That’s got me pretty horny. No, he’s not making any significant changes to help take the edge off that massive expense and responsibility, but who cares? I’ll put his speech on loop and turn it up. Let’s fuck.”
Not sure if the person who made this poster was being pedantic, or if it was intended to make people think, and realize that it could happen to anyone.
Watching Brooklyn 99 now. Gina is probably one of my favorite characters of all time, especially in the first few seasons.
