Currently using Memmy and would love if this was added. As is I’m using Lemmy significantly less due to the never ending barrage of this type of content.
This is exactly where I’m. Am Canadian and voted left my entire life and this site is becoming too much for me with the way conversations and posts go. Also feels like I’m forever blocking communities I don’t want to see.
What I wanted was the style of old school forums to discuss games, movies, sports teams etc and that’s not what this has turned out to be. Was happy at first and as the weeks have gone by I find it’s almost the same as Reddit (and even worse in some ways.)
Way too many political arguments and posts, to the point where it’s a turn off because it’s injected into everything.
I also think in addition to what you mentioned people don’t want to address that the population is a problem as well. The earth more than doubled the people living on it in 70 years from all of human history, that’s not just sustainable. You can hypothetically fit 20 people in a one bedroom but just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
This is the first Red Dead Redemption which was originally released on the PS3/360, not RDR2.
What is this from, SNL?
There are actually studies already showing this, it’s because they grew up on iPads and apps and everything “just working” or dumbed down. I will look for a source but your anecdote lines up.
This clip lives rent free in my head and occasionally pops up from time to time. Love how Danny pointed out he’s not a megastar and nice socks are a luxury to him.
That really can’t be said about Musk, Zuckerberg or Bezos.
That’s a good amount but I’m curious what the longterm retention will be like. Speaking for myself I’m here to stay, and am hopeful that with time some of the more niche communities come into existence and thrive.
I agree with your overall sentiment but disagree on them being right wing trolls (which is exactly what the right claims about those who don’t buy every word). There really are people on the left that extreme in real life too and they need to be tuned out. Disagreeing with them doesn’t make you more right leaning either.
