Europe, who is already seeing far right insurgencies due to a few immigrants? Yeah, good idea. And if Trump wins you can basically say goodbye to any sort of future that isn’t a hellscape. We’re already far behind our dues on climate change and this will be the final nail in the coffin.

Someone will be willing to do so. He can just fill everything with yay sayers.

You’d first have to even find / know about them. Unfortunately I’d say 99% of the threads in that community are also completely irrelevant for me and a lot of them aren’t even in English, so I’d rather not have that pollute my feed.

The moment Russia uses nukes in Ukraine is the moment they get completely fucked by NATO. It’s been pretty clear that nuclear weapons are the reddest of red lines.

And in case of a Russian collapse I guess we’d need some form of UN intervention to secure certain nuclear sites. Really depends on how bad things would go there in such an event though.

It’s on the nose but I don’t think it should be causing too much confusion within a community that’s about the fediverse.

I don’t know but it clearly lacks the reach. Maybe at least have an easy to see link to the news communities within the sidebars, but that’s more something for the actual software to do I think.

Switched a good while ago already because I felt the development wasn’t really going anywhere. Checked yesterday again and it is 95% spam there and weird federation issues even with its own instance, like kbin.meta only shows 7 month old posts, from within .social, even though there’s clearly new ones. Super weird.

I’m guessing kbin’s original code is going to be deprecated in favor of mbin then. There’s not a whole lot of reasons for a new team to develop it separately.

Really surprised by that. Granted, I logged in yesterday to check and that makes me part of that statistic but it’s like 90% spam there and many places do not federate properly. OP asked how others deal with it.

I always wanted a life partner, someone I can share everything with, even back in my early teens. After the two very hard break-ups with my cheating ex girlfriends - one of the two relationships went on for almost a decade too and almost drove me into suicide, or worse - I decided to just not bother with relationships anymore, platonic or romantic. It’s like I’m a magnet for abusive people and too gullible to handle them, since despite my jealousy that I kept eating up (which in hindsight was unfortunately always warranted and I should’ve listened to it) I tried to believe them, not wanting to lose them. So now I make sure I shut myself off from everyone to never fall for anyone ever again. What I can say, despite how much it hurts in the beginning, the pain itself will subside with time, so you should just give yourself that and as much as you need. Distractions can help in the intermediate period, but you will also want to make some room to properly process things. Otherwise it’ll haunt you.

Or from the other side, taking a random ass USB stick from someone you barely know? Nah. Who the hell knows what it could be infested with.
