I have better snacks than popcorn at home, that’s why I don’t have popcorn, but others do buy popcorn at home for making on a stovetop or microwave explicitly for watching movies at home.

I’m not even against using existing IP, like say adapting comics or books, but they need to stick to the source imo and not just be cash grabs, and preferably adapt something creator owned instead of big two, if comics. I am usually against rebooting an old series like alien, and always against remakes like Total Recall.

And I didn’t even mention the fact that practical effects (even bad ones) are my jam and CGI is just lame to me unless used sparingly and well.

Long legs is one of the like 6 movies I’ve wanted to see since about 2010. Still gonna wait for the torrent though as I mentioned because I don’t feel like selling a kidney for some buncha crunch.

I like it even less as a date idea. I want to talk to my date not sit quietly next to them for 2 hours, and if it is something that will hinder conversation let’s at least go see some live music or a theater production or something like that. Personally I’d rather go to the nearest botanical gardens.

Lol it’s funny to me that theaters think that’s what’ll save them. I don’t go to movies, not because the old seats, but because movies are all terrible remakes and reboots that I don’t want to see, and you have to take out a second mortgage just to be able to afford tickets and snacks. My high school used it daily in an ad for some bullshit they wanted to sell, and my first 10 working years they had a radio on wherever I worked on one of three stations depending, all of which play that song at least (at least) once a day every day. (That’s at least daily and sometimes twice a day exposure to that garbage song for 14 years straight for anyone counting.)

If I hear it come on I will leave the room, and I’ll be back in 3:14. Idgaf where I am. If I have the aux (it won’t be played, but if it somehow does) I’m changing it. Personally I believe violence should only be used in defense of self or innocent people around you from imminent threats, never otherwise. Use words to fight words, use ideas to fight ideas, use fists to fight fists, guns to fight guns or knives. Straight pacifism to the degree of foregoing defense seems naive to me, but so does using violence for anything but defense from violence.

I would argue that your pet didn’t consent to being imprisoned rescued and should be free. Kidnapping, false imprisonment, and forced sterilization are antithetical to vegan ideology.

Also my cat ruthlessly murders any creature unfortunate enough to stumble into her den simply for the pleasure of doing so. She doesn’t eat them, usually, but she isn’t exactly gentle regardless of whether or not she consumes her quarry. I think I may end up her next victim should I attempt to completely change her very nature against her will.

While we’re philosophising, is the concept of pet ownership at all vegan? I mean, if milking a cow is rape and eating it is murder, owning a dog (et cetera) is forcible detainment (or rather false imprisonment, unless the dog was convicted in a court of law by a jury of its peers) of an animal that deserves autonomy just the same. Dog can’t consent to being owned, but if it understood the concepts of ownership and autonomy I have my bet placed on what it’d say on this matter…

I’m just saying, I don’t think vegans imprisoning innocent creatures for their enjoyment, be they vegan creatures or otherwise, is ideologically consistent.
