Unionize. Have companies pay you fairly for what you do.

The problem with that here I. The states are two fold. First of all if the companies could, at least here in the states, they wouldn’t allow unionization. They don’t want to pay fairly for what you do. All these companies want to do is make as much money as possible, while paying the workers as little as possible.

Most of the companies here would like us to work until we die on the lines, but pay us nothing to do the work so they could make it all. Companies don’t give a damn about workers rights, or being fair to us. A lot of non-union shops will fire you for trying to bring a union in. They would be extremely happy if the labor boards, OSHA etc would cease to exist.

Money for the most part for a lot of people.

Passports are $400+ USD, then there are the plane tickets, which are hundreds of dollars. Then to top it off you need to have room and board while looking for a job and someplace to live.

Another thing I’ve heard is fear of leaving the known and family.

  • Yeah if you aren’t used to hurricanes it can be difficult. I learned that after I move to Texas and got hit with my first one. I grew up in the Midwest o I was used to tornadoes, but tropical storms and hurricanes were completely new to me.

Problem we’re running into here is it’s so hot and dry we are starting to see fires caused by spontaneous combustion here.

  • it seems like lately, about 80% of my all feed is the same stories posted on different communities by the same bot. This, IMHO, causes loss of OC posts by users on the feed. I want to block the bot, yet some of the news stories it posts interests me so I’m actually a little torn? I like the all feed so I can find communities I might want to subscribe to, like a lot of others. However, it is hard to find that if the feed is being overtaken by one story on every other post. On the other hand, it’s nice seeing the replies from other people on the different communities. If only there was a way to have Lemmy point to existing communities with the same name upon creation.

Tbh the mental health stays are a tool when you go to extremes on mental health where you need to learn better ways to cope with the problems. They focus on your problems in more of a groups type setting instead of one on one, depending on where you live.

With that being said a lot of the treatment relies on you doing most of the work, where they spend most of their time trying to figure out what medications will help you unless you are looking for a homeopathic route, which relies on you do 95% of the work and them using the other 5% to convince you that you can change your state of mind. Homeopathic or even religion based has a 85% rate of failure because they don’t want to admit that mental health is a chemical imbalance in the brain.

The main way it helps you is by you realizing you need the help they can offer.
